ABOUT JEENA
​Jeena is a Social Inclusion charity based in the UK working primarily within the ethnic minority communities. Jeena International works in particular with those members of these communities who are further disadvantaged as a result of their sex, age, disability, sexual orientation or gender re-assignment.
The charity is committed to challenge misinterpreted teachings of culture, tradition and religious ideologies. Our core aim is and will always be to support and prevent exploitation by: working with victims one to one, referring them to support services, training community bodies and offering mentoring programs.
We safeguard communities from abuse with the help of the government, international agencies and NGOs. We provide assistance to people who have come to the UK from aboard who are particularly vulnerable. We have supported women fleeing from domestic abuse, helped repatriate victims of human trafficking, raised awareness of women's rights and rights of children. Ultimately, we want to equip both men and women, the youth and communities with the support and tools to help them build a life free from exploitation.
Jeena have lead a number of initiatives which successfully provide a platform for key stakeholders to be informed and educated on issues of Breast Ironing, Domestic Violence (DV), Gender Inequality, Forced Marriages (FM), Honour Based Violence (HBV), Sexual Abuse, Sex Selection Abortions and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Child Exploitation, Radicalisation, Witchcraft (Blackmagic, juju) among the diaspora population from the Commonwealth.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Domestic Violence Caseworker (Internship), the role will entail helping with the following:
- Able to proactively and confidently engage with communities at public events
-Work on their own initiative to formulate and implement safety plans as well as interact with partner agencies to provide multi agency service delivery.
-Safety planning to reduce the risk to victims of domestic abuse and adults in need of safeguarding.
-Providing support and information to victims of domestic abuse and adults in need of safeguarding.
Desired profile
-Experience preferred but not essential of Support Work in the social care sector (e.g. DV, mental health, homelessness)
-Car driver with use of car for work
