As part of the ongoing expansion of SVO, we are looking to recruit an SVO Weights Engineer. You’ll support the SVO Weights function, setting and ensuring target compatibility with programme content across multiple SVO vehicle programmes. You'll take responsibility for seeing completion of all weights activities through from Kick-Off through to Job 1.
You’ll support activities such as Programme Attribute Leadership Strategy (PALS), Benchmarking, Panel Chart creation and Statement of Intent (SOI) requirements delivery. You'll ensure adherence to relevant standards, leading problem resolution and validating delivery throughout the vehicle design and development process.
This role will also involve supporting the SVO Weights Programme Attribute Team (PAT) Leader as well as the weighing of vehicles and components. You’ll assist with the Verification Prototype and Tooling Trial/Pilot Production and have ownership of weights trackers and waterfalls including opportunities and gaps to target.
Finally, you’ll help guide pre-programme start benchmarking plan and coordination as well as the attribute target setting. You’ll also be required to act as the Attribute representative for Programme Steering teams, the Vehicle Integration team, technical reviews, and Design PATs.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
As the Weights Engineer in SVO, you’ll have a good understanding of overall vehicle architecture and an awareness of mass properties key principles. You’ll be either educated to a degree level or able to show a track record of relevant experience for the role.
Your intimate whole-vehicle knowledge will be supplemented with a clear understanding of all CoCs systems and how they integrate with each other. Ideally, you’ll have experience of Weights Engineering and experience of product creation delivery system and all engineering planning and delivery processes.
In order to balance the often conflicting needs of the business within timing constraints, you’ll also have the ability to manage complex technical issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be important to report technical issues across all levels, and these should be combined with a confident attitude.
