WHAT TO EXPECT

 

This is the key technical department for the product creation process, leading the engineering from concept to customer. There are three parts to it: Attribute Quality and Process, Vehicle Integrity Team and Vehicle Engineering Management. Working here, you’ll give our vehicles their unique characteristics. It's all part of creating vehicles that delight customers and set us apart from the competition.

 

As part of a small supportive team, you’ll be working from the start of a unique and exciting new vehicle programme, responsible for one or more of the following test modes: Front Impact, Side Impact, Rear Impact, Rollover, Pedestrian Impact, Interior Impact, Crash Sensing, and Active Safety.

 

You’ll enjoy developing concepts through JLR processes, creatively solving problems, steering virtual assessments, leading hands-on testing, managing projects and finally confirming all that hard work by validating expensive prototypes through crash testing.

Working primarily from Gaydon site, you will be required to support testing at outside test agencies including overseas test houses.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You’ll be educated to degree level in engineering, maths, physics, or similar, and familiar with vehicle architectures and mechanical component testing. Ideally you will have worked in a crash test environment, developing and delivering automotive Active Safety Systems. Analytical skills are also a must, as you’ll be analysing and understanding complex crash data sets and providing both in-depth and understandable progress reports.
