WHAT TO EXPECT
With your experience as a time-served technician and people leadership skills, you will lead your team to achieve their objectives within the workshop. You’ll be an integral member of the Vehicle Workshop Team, interacting with VIP’s, Workshop Technicians, fellow Group Leaders and Supervisors at our state of the art Fen End facility.
The primary accountabilities of this role include proactively assisting with development and the delivery of a training framework, material development, progress tracking and recording/maintaining apprentice and skilled associate’s competencies effectively. It will be your responsibility to assist the Workshop Supervisor to ensure all associates are fully trained and competent to work across all areas.
You’ll be responsible for refresher training supporting all areas, provide ongoing support to offsite functions, coordinate training development/placements and continually ensure the training strategy and standards are delivered by ensuring content is up to date. You’ll communicate any concerns to relevant teams to ensure all issues and are dealt with effectively to assist, improve and sustain quality. You’ll drive continuous improvement by establishing a specific course of action, and appropriately manage time, tasks and resources. The role will be operated with the flexibility to change in line with departmental requirements and business needs, and will cover the general day-to-day running of the department.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll be an effective team player, with good interpersonal and coordination skills and will be able to work in a fast paced demanding environment. You’ll be highly motivated, have excellent quality awareness with the drive and enthusiasm to drive your team forward. It is essential you hold a recognised automotive apprenticeship, with level 3 automotive qualification ideally in motor vehicle repair.
You’ll ideally have knowledge of development & delivery of training materials alongside experience within a training/people management role. You’ll be able to implement change effectively as well as to coach, develop or challenge both employees and practices to achieve the operational objectives. You’ll have the ability to establish a specific course of action to accomplish goals through appropriate allocation of time, tasks and resources.
You’ll be proficient with use of PC Systems & Packages, such as Microsoft Office & Google Drive to collate statistical data, create reports and update document. You’ll be a strong communicator, both written & verbally and have the confidence to present your information in front of small groups of people, including management.
You’ll ideally have a solid understanding of all elements of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale and Environment (SQDCME). You’ll have experience of carrying out manual handling/muscle fatigue assessments and have a proactive approach to health and safety.
You would be expected to work shifts and overtime, as and when the business requires.
