LOCATION: Gaydon, Warwickshire

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is the key technical department for the product creation process, leading the engineering from concept to customer. There are three parts to it: Attribute Quality and Process, Vehicle Engineering Management and the Vehicle Integrity team. Working here, you’ll give our vehicles their unique characteristics. It's all part of creating vehicles that delight customers and set us apart from the competition.

The Thermal team is part of the Thermal and Aerodynamic Systems Engineering (TASE) group within Vehicle Engineering. TASE consists of Thermal, Aerodynamics and All Weather Comfort and Vision. In conjunction with the TASE Product Attribute Team (PAT) Leaders, the Thermal team is responsible for delivery of the thermal attribute across all vehicle programmes and the development of associated toolsets. Thermal attribute requirements primarily include the delivery of airflow for powertrain (internal combustion, hybrid and electric vehicle), driveline, battery system and brake cooling, and the management of the engine bay and underbody thermal environment to ensure acceptable temperatures are maintained for all systems and components. All targets must be met for set conditions, e.g. trailer towing, V-Max, sand and track driving in high-ambient conditions to ensure the thermal attribute is robust in all customer drive scenarios. The development and verification methods used within the Thermal team include 3-D CFD and heat management CAE tools, 1-D control systems analysis and whole-vehicle-based testing in climatic facilities, on the track and in market.

The Thermal Attribute covers all thermal performance from front-end aperture design, brake cooling, driveline cooling and underhood airflow as well as infotainment, electric vehicle and hybrid system thermal requirements. In addition, it also covers management of the engine bay and underbody thermal environment in order to ensure acceptable thermal conditions for all vehicle systems and components in all markets where Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are sold.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll come to this role with good CFD/CAE experience, sound understanding of thermodynamic and aerodynamic principles and a proven track record of CFD/CAE simulation methods development. You should also have experience in one or more of the areas of cooling performance, brake cooling, underbody component thermal management and infotainment cooling, and you’ll be familiar with vehicle systems and their functions, CFD software (ideally PowerFLOW), vehicle testing (ideally thermal testing), design, exterior trim, powertrain, chassis, thermal energy management and electrification. Rounding out your skill set with experience of PCDS, AIMs and the Virtual Series process will see a successful application for this role.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
