What to expect:

The Department:
Technical service operations are a key function within the JLR Global Technical Service department. A key role of the area is to support vehicle maintenance and repair operations in JLR Retailers globally, through the Technical Online Product Information eXchange (TOPIx) web portal. In turn, the key function of TOPix is to facilitate rapid and Right First Time Repair and Maintenance of JLR customer vehicles, through the provision of timely and accurate:

• Workshop Manuals.
• Service and Maintenance Schedules.
• Schedule Repair Operation Labour Times.
• Electrical Wiring Diagrams and Connector Details.
• Technical Bulletins, Campaigns and Recall information.

Role
The purpose of the Technical Information Author/Engineer is to act as a single point of contact for technical information updates across all the information types and quality control within the technical service operations deliverable and area, ensuring the correct measures and corrective actions are taken to maintain quality control levels.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitoring the quality of submissions of JLR 1691 documents.
• Be the single point of contact in the managed service supplier for all updates and modifications to the Odyssey WSM procedures including all sub-sections
• Develop scheduled maintenance repair (SMR) information and supporting labour time information to support the Jaguar and Land Rover release cycle.
• Develop actions plan to resolve any outstanding issues and concerns relating to any odyssey publication fitness reports.
• Review smarter repair feedback submitted from the retailer network, categorise the feedback and update the published information (all information types) as required. Feedback the actions taken to the initiator of the case.
• Provide final quality check and approval for release of all technical service bulletins (TSB) and associated bulletins.
• Provide input and support of the JLR authoring standards and terminology standards for all JLR workshop procedures.

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role you will need;
• Good communications skills – excellent written English and highly numerate
• Expert in JLR systems (Odyssey) and proficient in Microsoft proprietary software, such as Project Word, Excel and Access
• Good knowledge and experience of project management and planning skills.
• Export knowledge and experience with issue identification, investigation and resolution
• HNC/HND in Automotive or business related experience
• Significant automotive industry technical experience to include all major vehicle systems
• Proven ability, and/or formal qualifications in Technical Communication principles, tools, methodologies and standards
