LOCATION: Coventry, West Midlands
WHAT TO EXPECT
Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.
As the Transmission Controls Project Engineer, you’ll work for the team leader taking responsibility for the planning and delivery of transmission software and electronic hardware for 8-speed transmission, hybrid transmission, or electronic shifter projects across multiple Jaguar Land Rover applications. For each vehicle project, new programme requirements need to be evaluated and software and hardware delivery plans developed in line with the Jaguar Land Rover programme milestones and deliverables. Software and hardware testing must be planned and coordinated with the supplier and internal Jaguar Land Rover test team (HIL and vehicle-based) and issues evaluated and addressed within a quick timescale.
In your role, you’ll coordinate the project tasks to ensure that software and hardware is released on time for production and service across the range of vehicles. A key focus will be to develop and enhance the current software planning, sign-off, and releasing processes in order to improve the efficiency of the team and to ensure no software or hardware failure modes are released into production and service.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
For this role, you’ll need to demonstrate skills in electronic software and hardware delivery, testing, and engineering sign-off. With excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, you’ll be able to negotiate deliverables and priorities with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers.
You should be able to show excellent analytical skills and techniques in the resolution of complex software and system issues. Hands-on experience on ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, hardware-in-loop (HIL) simulation, testing, and automation will be highly desirable, as will good knowledge of vehicle architecture and system interfaces such as FlexRay, CAN, and LIN communications. Finally, you’ll need a strong planning mindset to ensure robust plans are developed, and you’ll possess the ability to develop and work to processes, which will be a consequence of a good electrical and electronics engineering background.
BENEFITS
Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan, and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
