WHAT TO EXPECT

It’s not every day you come across high-performance versions of existing models, luxury bespoke commissions, heritage models or individually tailored vehicles that set pulses racing. Unless you join us at Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).

Dreams are flawless, sheer perfection filled with desires and unimaginable aspirations beyond one’s reach. Dreams are what SVO stands for. We’re not looking for the everyday makers; we’re on the search for Dream Makers to join our journey.

The SVO Thermal and Aerodynamic Systems Engineering team is part of the Vehicle Engineering (VE) attributes group. It has delivery ownership for Thermal and Aerodynamic attributes across all SVO vehicle programs. TASE attribute requirements include the overall drag and lift characteristics of the vehicle, the provision for cooling airflow for powertrain, driveline and brakes, and the management of component temperatures.

The TASE Attribute Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Engineer is responsible for technical virtual development as well as support for physical development of TASE deliverables for SVO vehicle programmes. This will cover analysis, methods development and correlation to physical test for both test facilities and in-market environments.

The TASE attribute covers all external airflow, from overall vehicle shape and feature effects on drag and lift generation to front-end aperture design, brake cooling, and under-hood airflow, as well as infotainment, electric vehicle and hybrid system thermal requirements. In addition, it also covers management of the engine bay and under body thermal environment in order to ensure acceptable thermal conditions for all vehicle systems and components in all markets where Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are sold.

In your role, you’ll build models for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and heat management analysis as well as working with the TASE Offshore Design Engineering Centre (ODEC) team in Bangalore, India, for offshore meshing and model build. You’ll analyse TASE attributes performance through the Virtual Series phases using the TASE toolset and communicate with SVO Programme Attribute Team (PAT) Leaders and CoCs to provide technical solutions to thermal and aerodynamic problems.

You’ll provide data to the SVO vehicle Test and Development team to guide instrumentation and focus the test activities as well as providing airflow data to the Powertrain Cooling Integration team for cooling performance CAE (e.g. GT Cool). You’ll liaise with other CoCs and functions in conjunction with SVO PAT leaders to communicate the engineering data in order achieve changes to the vehicle style to enable the airflow targets to be met and conduct report writing and presentation of results within and outside of the department.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As an Attribute CAE Engineer in TASE, you’ll be educated to a degree level or possess equivalent experience with CFD/CAE. You’ll have experience of at least one meshing tool as well as a very good understanding of thermodynamic and aerodynamic principles.

You’ll have a proven track record of CFD/CAE simulation methods development as well as experience in the use of CFD software. Ideally, you should possess knowledge of vehicle systems and their functions as well as experience in coupled CFD/CAE simulation and the development of simulation methods.

In addition, experience of the existing TASE CFD/CAE toolsets as well as having worked with Design or Component Ownership teams will give you an upper hand, while experience of working with Chassis Systems Engineering regarding brake cooling would be beneficial.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
