WHAT TO EXPECT

Here, you’ll design, develop and shape the future of our electronic systems. By helping us find visionary developments in everything from hybrid vehicles and infotainment to advanced electronic systems integration and electrics.

This role is based within the Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) and Chassis Electronics (CE) section of Electrical Engineering (EESE).

The ADAS/CE Team develops and delivers systems and features such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic High Beam control, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Rear View, Junction View, Cross Traffic Alert, 360 degree Plan View, Lane Change Merge Aid, Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Highway Assist, Driveline Controls, Terrain Response, Active Suspension, and various new technologies working towards the goal of autonomous driving. 

This Systems Engineer will be responsible for planning the overall system delivery, working with the system owners to support build and fleet updates. Be able to write, design and Collate feature and system requirements, translate / decompose feature and system requirements into robust electrical system and software specifications and standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience of ADAS technology systems or come from an Aerospace background with good knowledge of Systems Engineering.

Other technical responsibilities include risk managing the system delivery, identify and contain function issues, in conjunction with vehicle engineering. Also manage the timing issues in conjunction with the system engineers, managers and timing team. Test system to ensure that it has met specification and manage any issues that arise and look for solutions.

You’ll also be responsible for co-ordinating with control system, hardware and software engineers to ensure robust and timely software deliveries are met. Help to develop and execute robust DVM/DVP for electrical system validation including HIL development and vehicle testing, develop and maintain Manufacturing and Service documentation for the Electrical system. Ensuring requirements on other systems/modules are clearly cascaded and that timing plans are in place to support the system development and delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED   

You’ll need to be a highly motivated and self-starting individual with understanding of system engineering principles and the software development lifecycle. This will include software requirements authoring and decomposition to software units, and requirements and change management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, RTC or similar). Development and execution of robust test plan, including validation techniques such as HIL and test automation.

You’ll also need great knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.) experience in logical, physical system architectures, functional and non-functional requirements design along with understanding of Quality methods experience with real time control systems design.

Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations, software development, delivery Diagnostic System Strategy Implementation, vehicle Network configuration and requirements capture and design are highly desirable.
