An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

LOCATION : Gaydon, Warwickshire

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Lead Engineer, you’ll manage and coordinate all delivery aspects within the design process, from initial concept through to volume production.

You’ll operate in a cross-functional organisation, reporting to a Module Leader and a Group Leader. There will be an emphasis on delivering robust systems, such as Moving Glass and/or Dynamic sealing systems, within programme-defined timelines and gateways, ultimately delivering components which meet weight, cost and quality requirements against defined targets including delivering all vehicle attributes.

This will involve working with and across many diverse components such as Dynamic Body/Door Seals, Door Glass Run Seals, Body and Door Mounted finishers and/or Glass Lift systems involving Glass and Regulators and/or Door Mounted module plates among others.

You’ll be involved in the detailed development of components from the Concept phase through the many gateways to production launch. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop new concepts and deliver systems from current Bill of Designs (BoDs).

At the same time, you’ll be involved in the development of the system and how it interacts within the body architecture, working with partners such as AME, PVT, Purchase, Cost Engineering, Quality, Design, STA, Electrical, BIW, CAE, Optical Quality, Test Area, Manufacturing and others. You’ll manage the way those parts interact with each other and the way they interact with the body architecture. This will be carried out across a range of new and exciting vehicle programmes, where you’ll also work closely with a range of specialist departments and external companies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll have a good understanding of the Foundation and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process, Design Verification (efDVS), and AIMS processes, and experience of Forward Model Quality strategies. You’ll be an effective communicator and have strong organisational and numerical skills. You should be able to demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to component applications, verification and validation. There must be a flexible approach to working from Gaydon or other locations depending on project requirements.

With excellent communication and relationship-building skills, you’ll be able to lead the coordination of a diverse set of tasks.

Ideally, you’ll have experience in Body Engineering, Body and Door Finishers, Sealing systems and the Window Lift systems environment paired with experience of mechanical engineering. It would also be advantageous if you have an understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures as well as an understanding of Standards authoring and approval application (S-DOTS), Byteworx, Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/ Word, Product Creation Standards and all of the different document types (Requirements, DVMs, Design Rules, STJLRs, TPJLRs). Whilst not responsible for geometry creation, a knowledge of CATIA, TCe and/or Digibuck, which are necessary to view and interrogate geometry will be a considered a benefit for this position.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
