The Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) function performs an important role within the Purchasing department being responsible for the capacity and quality performance of all new products and current vehicle suppliers. The team is also accountable for planning, monitoring and controlling supplier manufacturing processes and activities, and their aim is to enable high-quality and on-time execution of product programmes effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining and improving current car performance. In your role as the STA Launch Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the suppliers involved in the launch part of a programme.
In your exciting role, you’ll be responsible for the Supplier Technical Assistance support of launch build activity. This will include being actively involved in supplier engagement, improving quality systems and driving continuous improvement. You’ll support review of Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Control Plans while also working through Advanced Product Quality planning, which will involve close interrogation of supplier timing plans. Your responsibilities will include being responsible for phased production part approval processes and managing launch support. Finally, you’ll be involved in 8D/ AIMS concern resolution activities while also scheduling and conducting field action/stop shipment reviews in cases of supplier-responsible concerns.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
For this role, you’ll need to have experience within a Vehicle Engineering/Quality function and have familiarity with the Global Product Development System. Working knowledge and experience of APQP/PPAP/8D will also be important, and you’ll have the ability to facilitate the resolution of complex cross-functional issues, showing good leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills. The flexibility to undertake European travel will be expected along with having a full driving licence.
