WHAT TO EXPECT
Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.
Within Engine Engineering, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) team is formed of technically curious, high-performing engineers who lead the technical direction of our engine programmes.
You’ll cover the technical leadership for the Variable Valvetrain Systems for our engines, including, but not limited to Continuously Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) System and Variable Cam Timing (VCT) Systems.
In this role you’ll:
· Be responsible for defining and driving the system strategy of respective commodity of an engine product offering to support programme targets for new proposed engines.
· Ensure that strategic technical direction is deployed correctly into concept programmes.
· Be responsible for consistent technical leadership across the concept development phase into the delivery phase of a project.
· Define and deliver technical compliance for specific commodities to a programme plan.
· Provide technical leadership and guidance on problem resolution topics.
· Provide technical assessment support to delivery teams for supplier selection.
· Work with Functional Layer Attribute leaders to steer performance indicators for the system.
· Drive continuous improvement in technical standards through improved detection methods.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
It is essential you are experienced in volume manufacturing assembly approach and constraints for respective systems with in depth knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine design and operation. You’ll be educated to degree level with prior experience of internal combustion engine engineering.
You’ll need:
· In depth knowledge of quality tool deployment for failure mode avoidance.
· Proven ability to lead issue resolution teams, utilising G8D, PPS, Level 0 problem solving.
· Ability to provide strong and clear technical direction.
Desirable:
· Achieved recognition as an industry expert in a respective system.
· Strong links with research and higher education organisations.
· Familiarity with IBM DOORS & RMDV Software Packages.
· Product Launch Experience.
