What to expect

As part of a small supportive team, the candidate will lead a cross-functional team from the start of a unique and exciting new vehicle programme, responsible for one or more of the following test modes: Front Impact, Side Impact, Rear Impact, Rollover, Pedestrian Impact, Interior Impact, Crash Sensing and Active Safety.

You’ll enjoy developing concepts through Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) processes, creatively solve problems, steer virtual assessments, hands-on testing, manage projects and then prove all that hard work by validating expensive prototypes through crash testing

.
Working primarily from Gaydon and Whitley, the applicant may periodically be required to support testing at outside test agencies including overseas test houses.

The main responsibilities are:

•    Target setting and cascade for the vehicle safety attribute.
•    Liaison with active & passive safety component areas to ensure the correct features are included & engineered in line with product DNA.
•    Understand competitor action & vehicle safety trends.
•    Use JLR history & competitor benchmarking to drive the design for safety.  
•    Liaison with all component areas to ensure that designs meet with the required targets / corporate / legal standards.
•    Close working relationship with the CAE environment to track/assess the delivery of vehicle design solutions.
•    Reporting of progress / status for gateways and management review.
•    Drive issue resolution activities as required to deliver the safety attribute.
•    Chair cross discipline teams to deliver the safety targets.
•    Creation & management of integrated test plans including DVP at vehicle and component level.

 

C Grade - £35-40k dependant on experience
D Grade - £40-48k dependant on experience

What you’ll need

We’re looking for someone with automotive safety systems integration experience with practical working knowledge of basic physics (mechanics, energy management, experimental test design, etc). Familiarity with vehicle architectures (Body system, Restraints systems, Fuel systems etc) will be advantageous as would be having analytical skills, handling and making sense of data, computer literacy (Excel, DiaDem, Vicasso, Movias, Mintab, D3Plot). It would also be beneficial to have proven ability to work in a team, manage conflicting requirements, etc.
