Jaguar Land Rover has opportunities for high calibre and experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join our new Powertrain Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. This team is developing to support future engine developments in support of the Jaguar Land Rover range of vehicles. You will be involved with developing new, technologically advanced power train for our current and future model lines.

The Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) department are responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified processes and facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes, within Assembly & Test.

You will be part of the Assembly & Test team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, Facility vendors and Tooling Suppliers to ensure that component and whole engine designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake extensive global travel to Europe, India and China.  There may be opportunities for longer term assignments of up to 18 months for interested candidates.

Key responsibilities
You will utilise your knowledge to develop and implement assembly processes and facilities to deliver the safety, quality delivery and cost objectives.

Strategic planning and development and implementation of installation timing plans with key selected Suppliers also form part of this role.

The overall responsibility of this role is to be part of a team of engineers responsible for the planning and implementation of new and major changes to engine manufacturing assembly and test facilities. With particular emphasis on the following:

• Planning, developing and implementation of assembly processes and facilities.
• Ensure robust process planning including build simulations and FMEA’s
• Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate.
• Feasibility of design to suit modern assembly and test requirements.
• Prepare, issue and evaluate supplier “Request for Quotations”
• Assembly process & equipment verification at suppliers and at home manufacturing facility.
• Develop capable processes ensuring built in quality.
• Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate
• Achieve Equipment Capability targets of all new & modified facilities, including OPR, MTTR, MTBF
• Support Component Programme Management Teams (CPMT)
• Concur change management and engineering releases via the corporate change control and engineering release systems

What you’ll need:
1. Good IT skills and awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS), simulation and virtual toolsets i.e. Digital-buck, Process Simulate and CATIA V5 and Byteworx’s
2. Good knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project).
3. Self-motivated with sound leadership and communication skills, ideally with experience and understanding of engine assembly.
4. Ability to work within cross-functional teams and flexibility to support projects from early concepts to Launch at any of the Jaguar Land Rover sites.
5. Knowledge and experience of GPDS and LQOS deliverables and timing
6. Ideally understanding of JLR Facility Procurement and H&S procedures
7. Previous experience of facility Installation, commissioning and product Launch
8. Facility system validation and handover to Manufacturing
9. A good understanding of engineering including the ability to review engineering drawings
10. Ideally, educated to Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. Candidates with HNC / HND and the relevant experience would be considered
11. Flexibility regarding work location – extensive global travel to Europe, India and China.
