Department

  The vision of Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is to significantly increase model line profits through the provision of high performance vehicles and specialised features. 

Key strategy elements include :-

· Push the boundaries of the Brands to create Niche “Halo” sports & luxury products amplifying brand attributes

· Enhance premium customer experience through vehicle personalisation and exclusivity

· Provide track built Premium Editions plus Bespoke workshop builds and Armour derivative’s

· Design and Develop a range of vehicles across all JLR Brands

To support these objectives there is a requirement to appoint (and develop) SVO Interior Trim Project Engineers to create new product features from concept to launch.

Interior Trim creates solutions which meet or exceeds our customer’s expectations at the best value for JLR. As a key player you will be responsible for the design and development of the enhanced Interior features, which include

The Roles:   Cabin & Cockpit / Seating (Structures & Trim) / Safety & Restraints Systems

· Seating systems

· Structures, including mechanisms & electrical elements  

· Trim Functional elements(Hard & soft)

· Cabin & Cockpit

· IP Panel & Console,

· Doors panels ,

· Post Trims,

· Headliners,

· Boot Trims, Carpet & Carpet Mats

· Decorative Veneers & Finishers.

· Safety & Restraints

· Seat Belts

· Airbag systems

You will also proactively manage the component and proto-type supplier base to ensure timing & project control is maintained. Based primarily in Gaydon, the project engineer will work alongside the Interior Trim Manager & the other project engineers. The successful candidate will report directly into the Interior Trim Manager. There may be a need to work at other JLR Manufacturing & Design locations as required.

Key Responsibilities  

· Lead and co-ordinate the Design & Development of the Interior Trim, from initial concept design through to Job 1 implementation. This will include direction of

· CAD engineers,

· Supplier Management & interaction,

· Design reviews

· Plant support.

· Project management of designs ensuring successful virtual series gateways

· Project management of Design validation & Tooling /Production validation.

· Managing and controlling component costs and supplier delivery cost change tracking

· Responsible for generation of control documentation to support Design to Delivery cycles

· Manage the resolution of quality issues identified by internal and external indicators:

· R&D Participate / Lead future materials / component development actions within Interior Trim

What you’ll need

· Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification.

· Experience of automotive Trim Design, component manufacture & construction knowledge - Essential

· Knowledge of CATIA V5 or Digi-Buck / Vis-Mock-up Plus Tce - Ideal

· Experience of problem solving tools e.g. 6 panel, PPS (8D), FMEA, Robustness - Ideal

· Good communication and presentation skills to all levels - Essential

· Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint - Essential

· Good team player/ leader, who is self-motivated to deliver good quality products - Essential
