What to expect:
The Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Departmental vision is to significantly increase model line profits with the rapid provision of personalised features. Key strategic elements include pushing the boundaries of the Brands to create Niche “Halo” sports & luxury products amplifying brand attributes, enhance premium customer experience through vehicle personalisation and exclusivity, and provide bespoke builds.
To support these objectives there is a requirement to appoint Principal Engineers to support Armour Programmes and Pre-Programme start (Pre-PS) activity.
Sitting within the Armour Engineering team and reporting into the Armour Engineering Managerthese roles are crucial to the delivery of excellent products, on time, to budget and specification andlaying down the basics and deliverables right at the early stages.
In the Programme Lead role, you will be working alongside your colleagues in Armour Engineering, SVO and Core Engineering COC areas. Maintaining a constant understanding of the state of affairs across all Engineering systems. Identifying early on where delivery is at risk and jointly developing appropriate recovery plane in order to keep the overall programme on track.
In the Pre-PS Lead role you will be working alongside your colleagues in Business Planning, marketing and sales, Advanced Manufacturing and Programme Management to build up the agreed, feasible, deliverable specification of our future Armoured products. Pulling together realistic but challenging Engineering budgets, development timelines which back into the overall programme vehicle plan and a high level Homologation plan.
Key Responsibilities:
As Principal Engineer – Armour Programmes you will:
· Provide a single point of contact per Armour programme to enable face off to other teams to enable the facilitation of SVO features and lowest cost and highest quality
· Lead the Engineering delivery on specific Armour projects, liaising with relevant functional managers
· Lead and liaise with core on ownership, develop and drive tech feasibility, co-ordinate project resources.
· Support Programme Steering Team and Vehicle Integration Team as required to ensure SVO Armour interests are covered and issues resolved.
· Liaise with core departments to ensure platform architecture and systems are specified and agreed.
· Support SVO Launch as required.
· Drive/ Support Engineering team on delivery, timing, cost, issue management, concerns and quality
· Drive Armour innovation projects into delivery, on a specific platform.
· Drive Armour Engineering process improvement, and platform strategy
As Principal Engineer – Armour Pre-PS you will:
· Contribute to the development of the features list Vignette for all Armour programmes
· Having a good over view of competitor vehicle offerings and their specifications to support the above
· Responsible for the generation of the Engineering Timing Plan, budget and programme Vehicle Plan
· Pulling information in from wherever is necessary to achieve the above.
· Being an active member of the supplier selection process.
· Contribute to the development of the next generation of lighter weight Armoured solutions

What you’ll need:
· Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification and experience.
· It is essential that the individual has worked in an engineering role, ideally with whole vehicle experience.
· Experience in projects in either the pre PS stage or programme start to Job 1 including launch support.
· Experience of product creation systems and all engineering planning and delivery processes is essential
· Ability to negotiate with other functions to achieve objectives and resolve issues is essential
· High drive, self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
· Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure.
· Good leadership and influencing skills
· The ability to manage complex technical issues is essential to balance the often conflicting needs of the business, within project timing constraints.
· A good level of people development and team management skill or experience.
· Both verbal and written communication skills are important to report technical issues across all levels, and these should be combined with a confident attitude.
· The candidate must have a record of proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines.
· The candidate must be flexible with regard to multiple site working during launch.
· Experience of Armour systems within a Civilian/Military vehicle environment is advantageous
