Maintaining efficient production processes in the most advanced car manufacturing facilities is far from easy. But it’s a challenge we deliver on every day. Right now, we’re looking for all kinds of skilled trades to join us, from Industrial Maintenance Electricians and Mechanical Fitters, to Multi-skilled (Electrical/Mechanical) Technicians and Toolmakers. Wherever you’ve gained your experience, you’re good at what you do because you enjoy it, thriving on the thrill of thinking on your feet to deliver quick, effective fixes. If you have completed an indentured/certificated apprenticeship and have experience in an industrial setting, you’ll easily fit in here.

Skills, experience and qualifications required

Essential

Must have completed an indentured/certificated apprenticeship

• To be proficient in Large Press Tooling for Aluminium and Steel parts in the automotive industry.
• To be proficient in Turning, Milling, Jig Boring, Surface Grinding and other Toolroom Machinery.
• Ability to support all elements of production systems including total preventative maintenance, error proofing, quick change over etc.
• Ability to support all quality initiatives with all work groups in the Press Shop.
• Ability to work well with others in the Toolroom and Tooling Engineering Team
• Ability to take care to avoid injury to self and others when maintaining, repairing, refurbishing and running tools, dies and equipment.
• To adhere to all Health and Safety requirement including power press regulations etc.

Desirable

• Ability to Repair/Refurbish Press Tools using techniques such as Welding, Grinding, Filing and Stoning in accordance with company die specification and quality standards.
• Carry out Press Tool Try-out post modification on new/repaired press tools and dimensional form and surface finish checks in accordance with company quality standards/specifications.
• Manufacture, Repair and maintain all equipment in Press Tooling and pneumatic piping in accordance with Tooling specifications and Engineering drawings/Quality standards.
• Fit and Maintain Tooling Electrics e.g. Proximity Sensors, in accordance with Engineering drawings and Tool layout plans.
• Safely use Crane driving and slinging techniques to move large Press Tools from the Press Line to Toolroom or Tool Storage areas.
• Carry out the repair/maintenance of Press Tools using welding techniques e.g. MIG/TIG/Gas/Arc etc., in accordance with repair standards and die specifications.
• Support production runs with regard to function and liability of a Tooling breakdown.
• Assist press setters/auto setters in changing Press tools, carrying out press setting on lines to ensure ‘Hit to Hit’ times are maximised and first off samples meet required quality standards.
• Carry out running repairs/maintenance actions during production runs, e.g. Change Punches/Bushes/Repair Trim Steels, etc., to ensure quality and Production targets are maintained.
• Complete End of Run Tooling Reports ‘Run History’ and using Tooling Knowledge to assess area’s requiring repair and arranging for these repairs to be completed.
