Materials Engineering within Jaguar Land Rover are a multi-material discipline team providing specialist technical leadership and consultancy service to the whole business, including material investigations, selection and specification advice, material testing and analysis, material technology research and developments for new products.
Taking the role of a Materials Engineer, you’ll work within the Metallurgy Technical Services (MTS) team with responsibility for Chassis and Powertrain materials and components. You’ll not only support material selection, validation and technical approval of materials for new programmes but also carry out laboratory failure investigations and issue technical reports to Engineering and CoC customers. You’ll also participate in the development and introduction of new materials and technologies through cross-functional working with Research and Materials Innovation teams.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
In order to succeed, you’ll have experience of a materials-related technical role within a recognised industry equivalent to the automotive sector. It is likely you’ll have worked in cross-functional teams in a materials engineering capacity, and you’ll be versed in the use of laboratory failure investigation tools, techniques and practices. You should also have the ability to analyse problems, generate solutions and achieve results, making effective use of all resources available within the company and supplier base. It is also important that you’ll combine good organisational, communication and project management skills with a proactive attitude and being capable of taking decisions with minimal need for guidance.
