Every minute of every day, thousands of parts and materials from all over the world are shipped and delivered to our plants, ready to be utilised on our production lines within hours. Behind this momentous undertaking are our Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) team, coordinating on a massive scale to ensure our vehicles continue to roll smoothly off the production lines and into the hands of the customers awaiting them.
The purpose of this role is to develop innovative solutions to material flow and physical logistics processes to support the department’s strategic vision from receipt to lineside for EMC Powertrain programmes. The role is to lead a team to develop current processes through programme and project change. This will include developing and executing a robust programme plan within LQOS principles to guarantee a flawless launch. The engineering team will drive value stream mapping (VSM), benchmarking, and best-in-class (BiC) for both operations and facility needs. As such, this role is accountable for the success of the end-to-end logistics operation.
In your role as Material Flow Engineer, you'll lead the development of manufacturing logistics requirements and material flow strategies, ensuring that Powertrain are adopting best-in-class solutions for facilities and process design. You'll drive innovation in operations through a cohesive logistics engineering approach and a strong can-do attitude.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
In your role as Material Flow Engineer, you'll have previous experience of material flow and physical logistics operations alongside an awareness of their inter relationships with manufacturing, finance, purchasing and PD. You'll also need strong analytical and statistical abilities together with experience of project management and familiarity with process improvement processes. Besides possessing the ability to work independently, you should be comfortable challenging whilst using strong influencing and engagement skills. Finally, you’ll have a substantial level of tenacity in order to achieve results.
