Every minute of every day, thousands of parts and materials from all over the world are shipped and delivered to our plants, ready to be utilised on our production lines within hours. At the same time, hundreds of customers from across the globe are handed the keys to their newly transported vehicles. A feat like this doesn’t just happen. Behind this momentous undertaking are our Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) team, coordinating on a massive scale to ensure our vehicles continue to roll smoothly off the production lines and into the hands of the customers awaiting them.
As our Material Flow Coordinator, you’ll contribute to the coordination, development, and execution of the Material Planning and Logistics strategy for our UK Plant Group, to help support local vehicle plant operations strive for excellence. You’ll work with the lead material flow planners to achieve change in manufacturing to ensure efficient logistics planning in line with the overall strategy.
Developing and cascading standards and guidelines for material presentation, layout planning and logistics processes, you’ll drive reduction in non-value added work. Working with plant material flow teams to engage in change projects, you’ll report on and co-ordinate center of excellence projects into standard business and the integrated business plan. Finally, you’ll be supporting project management activities with clear reporting, definition of next steps and co-ordination of project timelines.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll have experience in process design or logistics planning and design, even better if your experience is gained within a logistics operation, though this is not essential. It would be advantageous to have experience of change management, knowledge of Value Stream Mapping principles and experience of project management and process improvement in an operation. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is also preferred.
With your analytical skills and statistical abilities, it’s a must that you’re confident with large data sets, pulling data together, manipulating it into various software and presenting it back out to your team.
In addition to your skills and experience, you’re a continuous improvement champion, target driven but with a customer-first mindset. Personable, with excellent communication skills, you actively work to support your team members and work well as part of a team.
Finally, you’ll have a flexible approach to work, as you’ll be expected to be out in the business, travelling to various sites and therefore you’ll need a full UK/European driving licence.
