An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

Location: Gaydon

WHAT TO EXPECT

When it comes to the future, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is planning it today. Regularly working up to three years ahead of production, they help translate, plan and implement Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities.
From the luxuriously agile Jaguar F-TYPE to the innovative CX-17, our vehicles – famed for the revolutionary technologies they employ – are amongst some of the most desired and revered in the world today. Your constant challenge, working as part of our diverse and multi-skilled AME team, will be to ensure our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow.

Manpower Planning is an essential part of the Manufacturing Business Office and are responsible for identifying all manpower requirements across Jaguar Land Rover vehicle assembly plants and providing detailed hourly and salaried headcount analysis which is used to identify and support current budget and future plans.

We are also responsible for the identification of Basic Minute Value (BMV) and Hours Per Car (HPC) targets for all new model programmes, status reporting of BMV/HPC on all models up to Job 1 with a heavy emphasis on Design for Assembly.  We input into the Harbour report on behalf of Jaguar Land Rover and carry out all the analysis required so that data provided by the report can be used in its most effective manner.

As a Manpower Planning Manager, you’ll lead a team of Industrial Engineers based in Gaydon to evaluate and drive Design For Assembly improvements in BMV and HPC for Modular Lightweight Architecture (MLA) Low vehicles, starting at the Programme Strategy Confirmed (PSC) gateway through to Verification Build (VB).

You’ll work cross functionally with Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and the Manufacturing Operations, into which the new model will be introduced to achieve Vehicle Line Quality and Manufacturing Cost per Unit (MCPU) targets.  You’ll establish “Best in Class” data via benchmarking for Base Engineered time and working with Bill of Design and Bill of Process Teams to establish the standard to achieve both Cost and Quality targets – leading light for “Design for Manufacturing Assembly”

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

With a manufacturing or engineering design background, you’ll need to have practical experience of Industrial Engineering tools and techniques and experience of “Design for Manufacture” tools and techniques.  Experience of using Lean tools and techniques to drive improvement and experience of launching a new product or service would also be beneficial.

You’ll be able to work in a fast-moving environment and to tight deadlines owing to your excellent analytical skills and the ability to focus on the key issues while processing large amounts of data. Assertive and confident in your demeanour, you’ll be quick to build good rapport, also drawing on your past experience of leading teams.

You’ll have previously applied your strategic thinking whilst managing projects, and you’ll be able to generate ideas as effectively as you present to stakeholders at all levels. Ideally, you’ll have a good working knowledge of financial budgeting and management processes and will be confident in your use of Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.

Finally, you’ll need to be comfortable with regular UK travel and occasional overseas travel, and you’ll hold a valid driving licence.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan, private medical cover and performance related bonus scheme. As a manager, you’ll also be able to select one of our luxury premium vehicles to lease at a fraction of the cost. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
