Job description

LOCATION: Whitley, Wolverhampton or Solihull (depending on role)

An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an Industrial Engineer you’ll be key to how we utilise our people in our world-class manufacturing facilities. We recruit into a number of departments, such as Body in White, Material Planning & Logistics, Plant Launch, Powertrain Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Final assembly and Paint. In all cases the primary focus will be the measurement and management of Time and Motion, using a comprehensive understanding of production operating parameters, work measurement tools, benchmarking, and efficiency key performance indicators.

You’ll be collating data, and using it to optimise production and manpower, working with multiple manufacturing operations, departments and functions to ensure the most efficient products and processes are developed and updated, reporting Basic Minute Value across various technologies within the plant.

Industrial Engineers can support either existing processes, looking at up-to-date data utilisation and current production changes, or new model introduction - gaining an understanding of the current deck layout and working with our Launch Team. Either way you’ll find yourself in a varied and challenging role that offers wide exposure to our business, all whilst working in one of the most advanced manufacturing environments in the UK.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll be an out-and-out engineer, specialising in one or more area of expertise. You’ll bring knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering gained during degree studies and in a previous role within production, manufacturing, or ideally the automotive industry. You’ll have an understanding of lean principles and Kaizen, and you’ll be comfortable when it comes to creating virtual concepts, using a variety of software packages.

Skills with Excel are a must in this role, as you’ll be collecting and analysing a large number data sets on a daily basis. Experience of working with Global Study Process Allocation Systems and Allocation Planning Tools will also help you to manage change and process improvement.

Any previous exposure to Manufacturing Process Management tools is highly advantageous - and the ability to problem solve, analyse, and present potential improvements will set you apart from the competition. You’ll also need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships cross-functionally, as you’ll need to influence and inform multiple stakeholders about the process improvements you recommend from data interpretation. You’ll round out your experience with the drive to work in an ever-changing industry that requires engineers who are always thinking several steps ahead.

We have a number of roles available and by submitting your details we’ll discuss your skills and background along with which Industrial Engineer role will be best suited to you.

Jaguar Land Rover considers that this role does not meet the criteria to be considered within the Home Office Shortage Occupation list. Therefore, Jaguar Land Rover will not support an application for visa sponsorship and all applicants for this role must have an unrestricted right to work for an indefinite period in the UK.

SO WHY US?

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
