WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Electrification Engineering team (EP-E). You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.

 

As the HV Battery Electrical Systems Engineer, you'll be part of the Battery Electrical Systems team within the Battery design and release teams as part of the overall Powertrain electrified engineering group. Operating in a cross-functional organisation, you’ll report into the Electrical System Manager.  You’ll lead responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the battery electrical systems and for the Design and Release of multiple parts across various battery programmes.

 

You’ll be responsible for ensuring Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Design Rules, Requirements Management and Design Verification (RMDV), and Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.

 

You’ll lead issue resolution (AIMS) and Change Management (WERS) processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme objectives. You’ll utilise the ETAG (End of Test Battery Strip process) from completed functional, rig, and vehicle tests, and also utilise Warranty feedback to ensure proactive identification and resolution of component issues. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for the resolution of cross functional technical / manufacturing issues using a Global 8D process.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Joining us as a skilled engineer, you’ll have detailed technical knowledge and experience of BEV and PHEV battery system solutions and technologies, along with a thorough understanding of complex systems, preferably high voltage. You'll have demonstrable knowledge of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software, and diagnostics. You’ll need experience in specifying and designing battery pack / module low voltage harness and Battery Electrical Module (BEM). Experience of high voltage connectors, high voltage and control hardware, including an understanding of typical battery characteristics and protective systems would also be an advantage.

 

You’ll need a degree in an engineering discipline and relevant electrical and/or batteries experience and will have proven experience managing lots of stakeholders with different views. Your ability to make effective decisions means you’re able to operate in the best interest of the business and customer.

 

You’ll round out your technical expertise with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
