Job description

POSTING END DATE: 05/12/17

ADVERTISED SALARY: £36,787

LOCATION: Whitley, Coventry

An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Within powertrain test operations, prototype engines are built and tested for Jaguar Land Rover. Within the engine build team specifically, tests beds and programme builds for vehicles are completed.  Most of the engine build takes place in the workshop, but some work can also take place in engine test cells or directly on vehicles, on or off site.

As an Engine Build Fitter, you will build engines from kits of parts to the specifications provided. This will include dimensional measurement, engine build and strip, recording data on hard copy and electronically, and repair/rework to specification of assembled engines.

You’ll be responsible for modification or fabrication of special parts, rigs and fixtures. You’ll also be required to fit instrumentation to engines and powertrain systems, either in vehicles or power units.

You’ll understand safety precautions required when setting-up and testing operations. You’ll demonstrate safe working practices at all times, in line with the company’s ‘destination zero’ policies. You’ll also understand the responsibility for yourself and to others in the workplace.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Like us, you’re passionate about quality and process improvement. Your ability to carry out fault diagnostics and resolve problems will be fundamental to achieving your objectives.

On top of this, you'll hold a recognised automotive apprenticeship, or a level 3 automotive qualifications alongside experience of installing and using instrumentation/measurement equipment and coordinating activities to meet deliverables.

You’ll ensure all activities meet Health and Safety requirements and process such as Risk Assessment, COSHH, HAV’s and TPM. You’ll need to hold a full driving licence for this role. Previous experience within a Powertrain environment would be favourable.

Finally, you’ll be collaborative by nature, will support others, and will have a ‘can do, will do’ attitude, to ensure that the workflow targets are met.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you will find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a privilege car purchase scheme, membership of a competitive pension plan and paid holiday entitlement. This and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
