The Engine Manufacturing Centre (EMC) is a Brand New State of the Art production facility to produce the next generation of advanced Engines to power the future vehicles of the Jaguar Land Rover Brand.
Power Train Operations is responsible for the manufacture of the new JLR engine to support the next generation of JLR vehicles. Delivering a premium product, the operations team will establish, introduce and develop the new facility to ensure a first class service to our customer base. Ultimately responsible for producing engines to a world class standard.
What to expect:
As the Audit CMM Engineer you will be responsible for the measurement team to ensure effective timely delivery of measurement tasks from both the control plan and additional requests. You will lead the measurement activities on Head, Block and Crank Lines. Effective communication, data analysis, tracking and reporting and control systems. Effective SQDCME Management and use of Lean tools (5S, 7 wastes). You will be expected to manage the team of technicians and associates to deliver the measurement control plan as well as any additional requests. The department uses QDAS tools to analyse the dimensional data
Key Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities include (but are not limited to):-
• Co-ordination and responsibility for Plant Quality Audit Measurement functions.
• Responsible for managing Master Control Centre for the Zeiss CMM Machines.
• Responsible for providing Measuring Systems Analysis on new and existing equipment.
• Develop and refine Departmental Standards, Work Instructions and Procedures in line with the business quality system.
• Manage the program Integrity for both Audit, Calibration and the Production Measuring Room.
• Delivery of the measurement control plan and additional requests.
• Report dimensional data using Excel, PowerPoint and QDAS.
• Maintaining and Ordering Measuring Equipment Spares such as CMM styli.
• Supports the CME department in quality improvements.
• Plan and program new CMM programs and new revisions.
• To ensure consistent delivery of Safety targets through proactive application of; hazard spotting, near miss reporting and a disciplined approach to accident reporting and risk assessment and application of Health and
• Safety procedures and requirements within the facility along with all associated housekeeping and TPM
• Liaising with Measuring Equipment suppliers, CME process engineers, AME Process engineers and plant quality to focus on cost per unit, productivity and quality improvements
• Ensuring any improvements are fed back to AME and also to CME at other JLR engine plants worldwide.
• Leading daily meetings with CME process and Quality Engineers Analysing quality data to identify where improvements could be made to reduce cost and increase production efficiency
• Continually seek new opportunities to improve existing tooling processes and equipment.
• Assisting plant quality and process engineers in the containment and resolution of customer complaints through measurement improvements, updates and installation.
• These documents are to be kept up to date with the latest gauging and process information and made available to AME gauging engineers when required.
• Developing single point lessons and feeding back to CME/AME process engineers.
• Single point of contact with AME and Measurement vendors, CME process engineers, production management, plant quality and all other appropriate stakeholders when resolving measurement related issues whilst in production.

What you’ll need:
Essential:
• Time served in an indentured apprenticeship or equivalent industry recognised training scheme
• Knowledge of measurement and co-ordinate systems is essential.
• Green Belt trained (preferable)
• Educated to HNC/HND level in Mechanical or Production Engineering
• Proven Experience working in a high precision production environment
• Working knowledge of the application and delivery of measurement systems and equipment
• MS Office skills – experienced using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• There will be the occasional requirement for UK and international travel to other JLR sites, and gauging and equipment suppliers for short durations as demanded by the role
Desirable:
• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Powertrain production experience Working knowledge of precision machining processes Understanding or familiarity with automotive systems, practices and procedures (ISO/TS 16949, ISO 18001, etc.)
• Experience of working to tight deadlines in a high volume production environment
