Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

LOCATION: West Midlands/Halewood

WHAT TO EXPECT

When it comes to the future, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is planning it today. Regularly working up to three years ahead of production, they help translate, plan and implement Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities.
From the luxuriously agile Jaguar F-TYPE to the innovative CX-17, our vehicles – famed for the revolutionary technologies they employ – are amongst some of the most desired and revered in the world today. Your constant challenge, working as part of our diverse and multi-skilled AME team, will be to ensure our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow.

From concept to launch, Dimensional Control Build Integrity (DCBI) define and implement Jaguar Land Rover’s dimensional strategy across our manufacturing facilities. Through the use of best-in-class technologies, tools and techniques, they ensure product and process compatibility, delivering world-class body accuracy in body construction. With the definition of the dimensional strategy in the hands of DCBI Strategy and Media, the team are responsible for ensuring the design is dimensionally robust in addition to driving dimensionally optimised designs into manufacturing systems and processes.  This is achieved by defining how the car is located and measured, analysing dimensional variation in manufacturing assemblies and ensuring the correct tools and media are in place to support.

The DCBI department is made up of the following teams: Metrology Systems, Dimensional Control Media, Body in White Measurement Strategy, Virtual Manufacturing, Dimensional Variation Analysis and Dimensional Strategy. Though each team differ in the technologies, tools and techniques they utilise, they share the same goal: to deliver capable, world-class body construction dimensional accuracy. With a number of exciting Engineer and Lead Engineer opportunities arising across DCBI’s various functions, take a look below to see how the following teams achieve their common goal and what key skills are needed.

If you feel a role below is well suited to your skills and experience, please apply to this advert and if successful your application will be sent to the relevant team.

Body in White (BIW) Measurement Strategy

Role Profile:  The Measurement Strategy team’s main role is to deliver measurement plans for both single panel and assembly on time to support the target build phases.  These measurements are used by our launch teams to continuously monitor and improve the quality of the Body and also to assist with build issues emerging from Trim and Final.  In order to carry this task out robustly, the team have to manage input requirements from a variety of key stakeholders whilst also maintaining a lean approach in order to protect for measurement capacity constraints at all of Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing plants in the UK and abroad.

Key Skills and experience required:   CATIA authoring skills V5 and V6, Project management, basic GD&T awareness, system engineering, dimensional / gauging / measurement experience, project management and team supervisory experience.

BIW Virtual Manufacturing Strategy

BIW Virtual Manufacturing Engineering (VME) support the design, feasibility and optimisation of the Body-In-White (BIW) manufacturing process, tooling and facility from concept through to delivery.  Within this group, the VME Strategy team support programmes through the PCDS Strategy phases (KO-PSC) with concept design and feasibility studies and product and process compatibility assessments. In addition, the Tooling Strategy team develop and define the locator strategies (single-panel and body assembly), driving dimensionally optimised and aligned strategies for assembly and measurement.  The VME Strategy team is also responsible for process, standards and toolset test and development in support of the whole Virtual Manufacturing group, as well cross-BIW AME toolset test and development.

Key Skills and experience required :  BIW manufacturing experience, Catia CAD authoring, Robcad / Delmia process simulation, basic GD&T awareness and dimensional / measurement awareness, project management and team supervisory experience..

BIW Virtual Manufacturing Delivery

BIW Virtual Manufacturing Engineering (VME) support the design, feasibility and optimisation of the Body-In-White (BIW) manufacturing process, tooling and facility from concept through to delivery.  Within this group, the VME Delivery team support programmes through the PCDS Strategy phases (PSC-JOB1) with assembly process simulation and feasibility assessments.  The BIW Virtual Manufacturing model develops alongside process planning and product development, to ensure product and process compatibility.  This model matures through a programme in-line with PCDS timing, resulting in a complete working 3D BIW production facility, prior to installation and launch.

Key Skills and experience required :   BIW manufacturing experience, Robcad / Delmia process simulation, basic Catia CAD and Autocad layout reviewer skills, dimensional / measurement awareness, project management and team supervisory experience..

Dimensional Variation Analysis
