WHAT TO EXPECT
In order to meet our ambitious global growth plans and tackle the ever-increasing challenges being faced by our business, we’re harnessing the power of data, and through industry 4.0 expanding the capability of its Purchasing Transformation and Operations team.
The Purchasing Analytics team is a newly formed team with a vision to create a competitive advantage by delivering monetary value from data. The team will be responsible for working with domain experts across the Purchasing function to define our internal procurement 4.0 roadmap and operationalise digital applications that are underpinned by advanced data analytics and the latest digital technologies.
The Purchasing Analytics team is responsible for developing and delivering our Purchasing Analytics strategy, coordinating analytics programmes across the function to solve complex problems. To do this we are assembling an expert multi-disciplinary team of analytics and digital professionals from a wide range of backgrounds.
Examples of potential projects include providing new actionable insight that optimises purchasing activities, to reinventing purchasing processes through automation of data processes. Data analytics projects will be varied in nature and will require using a wide spectrum of analytical skills, from data manipulation through to data visualisation.
As a Data Engineer you’ll focus on preparing, assessing and cleansing the data and data structures needed for analytics projects. You’ll prepare data structures and flows for analytics projects as well as work with business data owners to elicit undocumented assumptions and quality issues in data.
In addition you’ll build dashboards to visualise solutions and mentor junior team members, deliver data science training and maintain quality of your coding and reporting all assumptions and risks implied in their work.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll have a numerate and computing background as well as be a keen problem solver with a track record of developing new solutions to problems. You’ll have experience working with databases to build data pipelines and in data visualisation methods and tools.
You’re an outstanding problem solver, inquisitive, who loves working with data; detail orientated and methodical. Whilst existing knowledge of numerous analytical tools is not a prerequisite, self-motivation to learn and an ambition to become an expert in applying such technologies is essential.
You’ll ideally have analytics and programming experience and if you’ve experience of working in an analytics team within a purchasing and/or supply chain domain that’s even better.
