Candidate Profile
As a Cost Engineer, you will focus on a specific vehicle commodity - from Exterior to Interior, through Power Train,
Chassis, Body and Electrical. You will be responsible for:
• Delivering ‘should cost’ analyses conforming to departmental standards and procedures
• Playing a leading role in driving supplier negotiations both within and in addition to cross-functional team activities
• Providing expert technical and cost direction to Advanced Product Creation engineers
• Using technical and commercial expertise to review, validate and drive Best Practice in supplier processes
• Working closely with Design Engineers as a business consultant, advising on cost impact of design alternatives
• Identifying and supporting the implementation of opportunities to reduce costs
• Applying business and financial acumen to influence relevant programmes and commodity strategies
If you already have relevant professional experience, you could join us as a Cost Engineer, leading projects or teams and making a vital difference to the vehicle development. You will be expected to:
•Build internal and external relationships, embracing responsibility for your role and behaviour in the wider business
• Support all activities in the Cost Engineering department and take a proactive approach towards improvements
To join us at any level, you will need to demonstrate a range of relevant manufacturing process knowledge.
Technical awareness at both the production process and cost driver level is essential.
Willingness to travel is essential.
Project management experience is desirable.
Experience in a major Tier 1 automotive supplier is desirable.
Ideally, you will be educated to degree level and/or have a relevant Engineering/Manufacturing qualification.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing & leadership skills is vital.
