Which is where you join the journey.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is the key technical department for the product creation process, leading the engineering from concept to customer. There are three parts to it: Attribute Quality and Process, Vehicle Integrity Team and Vehicle Engineering Management. Working here, you’ll give our vehicles their unique characteristics. It's all part of creating vehicles that delight customers and set us apart from the competition.
The Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Attributes Group are responsible for the definition of noise and vibration performance for our products, as well as the formulation and execution of strategies to deliver design solutions which meet the defined NVH standards.
As a Chassis System NVH engineer, you'll be using data and information from a range of sources (both physical and virtual) to assess the NVH performance of the major Chassis Systems used at JLR including Active Roll Control, Air Suspensions and Power Steering.
The role involves significant interaction with the Chassis COC and with key suppliers of Chassis Systems and components
In your role you’ll produce measurements of the Chassis Systems NVH performance at a vehicle level at all build levels from concept through to production. Produce vehicle measurements also include competitor vehicles and any simulator vehicles created to support the Chassis Systems development. Measurement of Chassis Systems NVH performance at a system and component level as required to support the target cascade and verification process. This would include noise, acceleration, dynamic force and pressure data. With analysis and presentation of all physical measurements made. Development of solutions to any Chassis Systems NVH issues identified during the research, concept and verification phases, support to packaging and design reviews to ensure the NVH design principles are embedded in the future Chassis Systems.
You’ll need a real interest and understanding of the interaction between noise and vibration responses and human perception and knowledge of NVH signal processing techniques including Fourier analysis and convolution and experience and understanding of virtual NVH methods with understanding of appropriate application, strengths and limitations. You’ll need the ability to handle and present often complex data clearly and make recommendations to diverse audiences, from members of the team inside the department, to engineers in other departments and to senior management.
