WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Engine Test Facilities department is part of Powertrain Test Operations and Product Development.  The team supports productive workflow from the engine build workshop and delivers test capability to the Powertrain Engineering and Certification teams in the form of instrumentation and test equipment.

 

As a Maintenance and Servicing Fitter, you’ll be involved in the calibration of engine test beds and their ancillary equipment to national standards and keeping our customers and management informed of any anomalies or concerns. 

In this crucial role, you’ll keep  stock levels of instrumentation and ancillary equipment up-to-date, liaise with on-site calibration for instrumentation to traceable standards and run tests, to Single Point Lessons (SPL)using low voltage test equipment as well as keeping accurate log records.

 

Your responsibility will be maintaining, servicing and the calibration of specialist test equipment on or off the test bed, to support the team's  needs , and through ongoing training help improve equipment life and repeatability of results. This will involve following maintenance schedules and instructions, supplier information and fault finding and rectification of the equipment.

You’ll also demonstrate safe working practices, and will be ready to challenge your colleagues to do the same - championing safety across the workplace.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Like us, you’re passionate about quality and process improvement. Preferably you’ll have experience in a Powertrain environment (or similar) and knowledge or appreciation of test equipment maintenance and servicing including fault finding, problem analysis and rectification.

On top of this, you'll hold a recognised apprenticeship, or a level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline.  You'll also have comprehensive knowledge of health and safety requirements, as well as risk assessments.Previous experience within a similar role would be favourable but isn’t essential - skills and flexibility are the key to your success. You’ll also need to hold a full driving licence for this role.
