Suspension. Engine mounts. Wheels and tyres. To provide an exceptional driving experience, every chassis component needs be honed to perfection. That takes all kinds of people, from designers to project managers.

The Suspension System Tuning (SST) team within Chassis are responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of the Chassis systems that significantly contribute to Jaguar Land Rover’s vehicle dynamics performance and for delivering customer comfort systems.

The vision of the SST team is to increase the use of CAE modelling to improve the robustness and timing of engineering design decisions and to minimise current reliance on physical testing.

As a CAE Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in enabling SST to make greater use of virtual models and techniques earlier in the development cycle. You’ll be responsible for the creation, correlation and delivery of component and system virtual models and the associated test methods required for driving engineering decisions.

You’ll develop MBS (Multi-Body Systems) models, including empirical models used within the MBS code, to represent SST components and systems, you’ll work with test engineers to perform physical testing to generate data for correlation of CAE Models and you’ll scope plan and conduct CAE tests along with the data analysis require to make engineering recommendations and subsequently produce test reports.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As an experienced engineer you’ll have working knowledge of CAE methodologies, experience using MBS software (preferably SIMPACK), experience using MATLAB for data processing and scripting and you’ll have the ability to interrogate physical and virtual test data to support and make engineering decisions.

It will be advantageous if you’ve knowledge of vehicle dynamics, NVH, off road capability and reliability attributes or good knowledge of chassis systems.

It is anticipated that you’ll be degree educated in a relevant engineering subject and that you’ll show high levels of drive, motivation and strong presentation skills.
