Job description

POSTING END DATE: 13/06/18
ADVERTISED SALARY: 31,500 - 40,000

An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

If the prospect of helping to enhance the customer experience through the design, development, measurement and balance of customer attributes for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles sounds like your ideal next challenge, read on.

Part of our Chassis function, the Brakes Refinement team develop customer acceptance standards and deliver the development and sign off of programmes to confirm that brakes refinement customer quality targets have been met. Their focus isn’t just on making sure that our standards satisfy our customers though. They’re also busy developing ever-more efficient methods for the delivery of programmes, including the use of virtual tools and the translation of customer requirements into objective measurements. And, right now, they want you to be part of their future.

Your challenge? To help the lead engineer deliver brakes refinement customer quality targets for one or more vehicle programmes or platforms in line with programme gateways. How? By supporting competitor and comparator attribute benchmarking and futuring, including carrying out physical/virtual testing, measurement and visual assessments. Getting involved in test and development activities and delivering technical recommendations and reports will be key, as will making sure technical issues are identified and effectively resolved. Indeed, you’ll often liaise with the lead engineer to drive the implementation and resolution of engineering solutions in this interesting, varied and rewarding role.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Preferably with a relevant degree or equivalent experience, a good understanding of automotive brake system design is a must, as is a track record in solving complex technical challenges. We’ll also be looking for a proven ability to use problem solving tools like Root Cause Analysis and 8 Disciplines of problem solving, Design of Experiments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in Manufacturing. Results driven and great at prioritising a busy workload, you’re a natural at delivering operational plans in a highly demanding environment. What's more, you're an effective team player who is as comfortable supporting others as you are communicating complex ideas.

In terms of additional desirable attributes, the ability to identify specifications that influence brake attributes, including performance and refinement, would be useful. So would experience in the field of NVH analysis and knowledge of industry standard NVH measurement systems (LMS Test.lab, HEAD Artemis, Prosig, etc.). And, if you’re familiar with explicit and/or implicit CAE software and associated pre and post processing packages and have knowledge of whole vehicle engineering knowledge and cross functional experience, even better. But, as we say, this last set of attributes are only preferred, not essential.
