WHAT TO EXPECT
The PVE (Prototype Vehicle Engineer) BIW (Body in White) Build Engineer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the BIW (Body in White) activities on X1 and M1 prototype vehicles and will provide the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to experience whole vehicle engineering and provide exposure to the key areas that influence vehicle development.
As an experience Build Engineer you’ll be responsible for the coordination of the BIW (Body In White) build activities and methodology this includes problem resolution / modification control to support the BIW (Body In White) build timing, you’ll be responsible for defining consumable/sealant/adhesive and additional part requirements providing signed Inspection and Buy Off documentation, also you’ll manage the integration of prototype bodies into paint/testing facilities whilst Interrogating CAD (Computer Aided Design) trees to identify clash/clearance issues.
You’ll support the in build root cause analysis and represent PVE (Prototype Vehicle Engineering) department at project boardwalks this will also include supporting package and Master on Car activities in build whilst updating and refining existing processes. The role will require you to define root cause analysis of in build issues whilst supporting with basic template design using Catia V5 & V6, you’ll coordinate modification/containment control – both panel and body and provide build status during build programs.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
As an experienced Build Engineer you’ll have experience of technical analysis and demonstration of employing best-in-class processes wherever possible this includes extensive technical knowledge of key vehicle systems and whole vehicle engineering. Ideally you will have experience with prototype CAD (Computer Aided Design) tree structures and be able to manage them whilst providing in-depth knowledge of the vehicle assembly Bill of Process (BoP) you’ll exhibit experience of working on projects across multiple sites.
You’ll have strong working knowledge of the JLR programme & project delivery processes whether this is through JLR directly or via a Tier 1 supplier, you’ll also have expert level knowledge of prototype vehicle assembly within JLR or another Automotive OEM. You’ll be self-motivated and organised, able to manage multiple tasks to an agreed plan. You’ll also demonstrate the ability to deliver with accuracy and urgency whilst displaying excellent communication and written skills with a strong knowledge of Google and Microsoft Tools including Excel.
You’ll have the ability to form good working relationships at all levels of the organisation & cross functionally demonstrating resilience and enthusiasm, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs.
