Our Android development team are part of the Connected Technologies and Apps team.
As Android Developer you’ll be responsible for the development and maintenance of Android apps that interface to Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in different forms. This includes how the apps interface directly - using our InControl Apps platform, or using Android Auto integrations – and indirectly - using REStful APIs with our Jaguar Land Rover off board server. Our goal is to bring compelling user experiences into our vehicles which leverage the computing power of the mobile device.
You’ll be responsible for interpreting UI/UX designs that encompass both handheld and in-vehicle designs. You’ll develop the code that allows these designs and experiences to be realised and will also create and perform unit test of delivered code, performing integration tests within our vehicles. In addition to this, you will work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
With extensive experience in Android development, you’ll have demonstrable or published apps and a deep familiarity with Java programming language, Android Studio and Gradle.
You’ll need experience working with core Android packages such as Bluetooth, Bitmaps, AsyncTask, SharedPrefences, RecyclerView, ViewSwitchers and SpeechRecognition. Further experience with third-party SDK’s and APIs would be beneficial, and you’ll need knowledge of app provisioning, rich UI development, HTTP, JSON, XML, SSL security, sockets, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Android Wear. In addition to this, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related subject.
Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
