Senior DBA within existing Database Services team responsible for maintaining service and drive improvement across a global database estate covering all aspects of the Oracle Database Technology stack
Work alongside multiple Production Support, Development, System Admin and Engineering teams
Provide end to end support of suite of mission critical Oracle databases, support change requests, change validation, SQL performance & tuning analysis, database design and best practice implementation
Ensure all current and newly built databases adhere to strict set of standards.
Major contribution to projects such as Solaris to Linux and 10g to 11g migrations.
Ensure database portfolio is compliant against continuously changing financial services controls requirements
Responsibilities:
Technical expert for portfolio of Oracle databases, including multi-terabyte Tier 1 payments, statements, sanctions, trading and reporting databases
Working with Development teams - Design & Code Reviews, SQL support, Change Request validation
Oracle RDBMS and SQL Performance Analysis & Tuning, including maintenance of monitoring scripts and reporting their results
Act as point person for application delivery and engineering group when defining how databases should be used in new applications
Manage database incidents, ensuring rapid restoration of service, thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective measures
Lead other DBA team members, work with Application Delivery teams to drive improvement in the processes and tools used
Implementing new upcoming projects - upgrades, Linux implementation
Definition and implementation of data archiving strategies
Writing Tools and Utilities - in shell, awk, sed etc
Control-based remediation work e.g. certification of database permissions
Maintain, develop and co-ordinate releases of Oracle access control software
Desired profile
Essential skills:
Deep understanding of Oracle Database, Dataguard, RAC, ASM, RMAN, OEM/Grid
Query/Index Performance Tuning
Understanding of storage/SAN technologies
Scripting skills, with good working knowledge of Unix shell - K, Bourne, Awk, Sed, Perl
Good working knowledge of Red Hat Linux
Good communication skills and relationship management
Proven ability to collaberate, learn from and educate other experienced Oracle DBAs
Oracle utilities (DataPump/SQLLDR)
Oracle security framework
Oracle auditing functions
PL/SQL development
Desirable skills:
Oracle 12c
Oracle Golden Gate
Oracle Exadata
Experience of other DBMS at enterprise level: Sybase, SQL Server, Marklogic, MySQL, TimesTen, Vertica, MongoDB, MapR or others
