Global Network Services supports one of the largest enterprise networks spanning over 56 countries on a global basis, with over 2 million data network ports, 40,000 network devices, and 8 billion voice minutes per year.
The Retail Network team within Global Network Services (GNS) is responsible for delivering value added services and projects to meet business demand for the firm's Global Data Network in partnership with our line of business partners and peer technology organizations. The remit of this team is to deliver designs, implementations and lifecycle management related to LAN/WAN and Wireless (Wi-Fi) in support of the firm's 5,600+ banking centers and 19,000+ ATMs and supporting over 20,000 network devices.
This will be a Data Network Engineer position focusing on implementing data network solutions for Retail Branch and ATM network. Person must possess a high-level of technical expertise, have strong organizational skills and be able to work with engineering, project management and support resources to drive business projects to completion. Candidate will utilize their extensive experience for planning, analysis, process design/implementation and data network design & implementation. Position will be responsible for remote execution of changes and also remote coordination of resources (staff, vendors and contractors) to accomplish business requirements. A successful candidate will have previously designed and implemented solutions for LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi and security in large global enterprise environments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Follows established standards and procedures and completes the implementation with high quality.
· Implementation and execution of complex network hardware and software configurations
· Collect and analyze data related to the production network infrastructure
· Developing repeatable processes for execution of common functions for execution by overall team on a global scale
· Be apprised of and recommend the implementation of new network technologies to improve stability, supportability, and performance within the network
· Implement new standards in collaboration with Engineering Design Team.
· Interact with global engineering, implementation and support teams during project turnover to ensure adherence to standards compliance
· Coordinates activities with clients, implementation and operations personnel
· Serve as tier4 escalation support and proactively identify and provide solutions for operational efficiencies
· Evening/weekend work will be required
Desired profile
Qualifications
· A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline
· 3-5 years professional experience working in large scale enterprise or carrier network environments
· Proven knowledge of a majority of the following: Routers, Ethernet switches, Firewalls, Internet appliances, business applications
· A detailed understanding that includes: TCP/IP routing protocols, MPLS, NAT, BGP4, IGP, DNS, firewall policies, geo-load balancing, proxy and cache Servers, VPN technologies, layer 4-7 switching, Security, QoS, IP Telephony, WiFi, Cellular, Network Management and Monitoring Software
· Advanced knowledge of available network operating systems, network equipment and networking protocols is essential
· Proven ability to research, develop, implement and streamlining processes/procedures for executing data network projects on a global scale consisting of over 10,000+ devices
· Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Shell, Awk, SQL, PHP or Python, Perl with a strong base in object-oriented design and development
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience building scalable, fault tolerant infrastructure software or distributed systems, preferably in a Unix or Linux platform
· Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and their performance
· Ability to develop complex network designs based on reference architecture and existing standards is required, as well as the ability to develop new standards
· Proven ability to lead and execute major new implementation and changes
· Experience in developing lab test solutions and performing testing in remote lab facilities for implementation best practices
· Strong project management and execution skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to perform packet-level analysis
· CCNP or CCDP Certification or equivalent experience, CCIE a plus
· Proven experience collaborating with and influencing technical and non-technical audiences with an ability to prepare, present, and adapt the intended message to the target audience
· Excellent verbal, written and communication skills required
· Financial industry experience is an additional plus
· Microsoft Office suite skills are required
· Ability to create management reports using Powerpoint
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
