Job description
Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing default loan monitoring for JPMorgan Chase's Bankruptcy Operations, ensuring compliance with federal bankruptcy law for mortgage loans which are affected by Chapter 7, 11, or 13 bankruptcies. The BK Operations Specialist I will be responsible for performing quality review of bankruptcy documents for a portfolio of approximately 500 to 550 of such mortgage loans. In addition, he/she will be responsible for reviewing and verifying the factual accuracy of certain bankruptcy-related documents such as declarations, affidavits, and proof of claims. The Bankruptcy Operations Specialist I works in a production environment. Production and quality goals are established by the manager and measured through the use of a performance scorecard.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (in order of importance)
·Reviews and completes bankruptcy documents ensuring accurate factual information such as name, title, state, and country.
·Performs timely follow-up with attorneys and bankruptcy trustees.
·Ensures that follow-up for hearings, discharges and other critical steps such as request referrals on delinquent bankruptcies, etc. is handled on a timely basis.
·Maintains a production tracking sheet, including updating systems to reflect document completion.
·Maintains up-to-date accounting ledgers to ensure the discharge process is accurate.
·Performs administrative tasks, including Default tracking work queue for loan set up and completing document copy requests received by attorneys.
Desired profile
Knowledge and Experience
·A minimum of one year of financial services operations experience (i.e. mortgage, legal documents production, default, asset recovery) strongly preferred.
·A minimum of one year call center experience.
·Prior bankruptcy knowledge/experience strongly preferred.
·Ability to read, understand and analyze loan level information in order to derive the next appropriate action.
·Excellent time management skills.
·Effective written and verbal communication skills.
·Attention to detail and focus on accuracy critical.
·Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
·High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
