Chase Consumer & Community Banking serves more than 64 million consumers and 4 million small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking consists of the following lines of business: Consumer Banking, Mortgage Banking, Card Services, Auto Finance, Chase Wealth Management, Business Banking and Chase Merchant Services.
The Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Auto Finance consumer business legal team. This is a position that requires the highest level of legal analysis, sophistication and judgment. The successful attorney must have excellent oral and written communication skills, superb people skills, the ability to learn new areas of law quickly, an ability to anticipate and meet the needs of a demanding and sophisticated client group, and the flexibility to juggle a wide range of assignments simultaneously.
The preferred location for this position is Dallas/Fort Worth, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
Responsibilities
· Counseling and assisting the Retail and Consumer Auto Finance business on a variety of strategic and tactical issues.
· Providing legal advice regarding product development, industry laws and regulations, marketing, dealer management, and other business matters.
· Participating in various control, compliance and risk initiatives that affect the Retail and Consumer Auto Finance business.
· Monitoring legal obligations and working with the business to implement changes responsive to new federal and state legal and regulatory requirements
· Participating in cross-line of business initiatives and working with other legal teams to ensure consistent interpretation and application of laws across Consumer & Community Banking, as appropriate
· All other duties as necessary or assigned in connection with legal support to the business
Desired profile
· JD, admitted to practice in and member of the bar in which the candidate will practice
· Minimum of three years of financial institution representation is required
· Experience preparing legal documentation required
· In depth knowledge of applicable consumer finance laws is required, with an emphasis on auto leasing and lending
· Excellent legal skills and judgment including ability to interpret and explain statutes and regulations
· Keen understanding and knowledge of the regulatory environment
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills
· Team player with proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with legal and non-legal colleagues at all levels of the organization
· Ability to work independently, manage complex projects and multitask successfully in fast-paced and changing business environment
