Job description

JP Morgan Chase & Co. is seeking sophomore or junior year students who are pursuing studies in the field of Accounting with an interest in pursuing a career in the field of taxation. The student must possess strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. The student must be willing to commit to work between fifteen and twenty hours per week on a consistent basis during school and full-time during summer break.

The student intern will assist tax department staff personnel to compile and analyze financial data obtained from a variety of sources (e.g., general ledger interface reports, p/c spreadsheet applications and corporate database reports). The compiled data will be utilized and incorporated into JPMC's Federal, State Income Tax Returns and CFC Form 5471's. The student will be assigned to work for corporate tax professionals who will train the student to fulfill their respective duties and prepare them to take on further responsibilities for challenging projects.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide analytical support for the professional tax staff (e.g., general ledger account analysis).
2. Assist in the preparation of state apportionment income tax factors (receipts, property & payroll).
3. Prepare assigned Federal, State Income Tax Returns and Forms 5471.
4. Assist in the analysis of Earnings & Profits for JP Morgan Chase controlled foreign corporations.
5. General office work (e.g., copies, file preparation, maintenance).
6. Interface and communicate effectively with people within the Corporate Tax Department and other JPMorgan Chase departments bankwide.
7. Assist with special projects as needed.

Desired profile

·  The student must possess good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
·  The student should have better than average personal computer skills using spreadsheet applications such as Excel and be proficient in MS Word and Powerpoint.
·  The student should possess good oral and written communication skills.
