Position Summary

The Global Business Travel Tax Operations Team is a relatively newly formed team set up 18 months ago to provide ongoing operational support for the roll out of the Global Business Travel Tax Program within J.P. Morgan.

 

Role Summary

Responsibilities will include managing all aspects of EMEA UK sourced income and tax withholding related work associated with employee’s from different EMEA locations, global business travel. The incumbent will monitor vendor execution of tax transactions and calculations performing independent calculation checks to ensure tax results are accurate, timely and compliant. The role will encompass end to end ownership including managing the tax authorization verification requirements and facilitating full data delivery to the Firm’s approved tax preparers within pre-defined timelines. Ongoing participation in the further expansion of the program. This person will need to be a key contributor to resolving technical challenges as well as focusing heavily on robust controls to offset associated risk of highly technical and currently highly manual processes involving sensitive data.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

· 
Verification of the third party tax preparer and internal payroll tax calculations and transactions resulting from the program including analysis of supporting travel diary data input and manual validation/simulation of payroll calculations

· 
Own the end to end tax cycle process – tax support authorization, monitoring the  selection process, tax filing monitoring across multiple locations, Foreign Tax Credit repayment process

· 
Managing employee loans process - including repayment and reconciliation across multiple tax years

· 
Partner with Corporate Tax, EMEA and UK Payroll teams, and key external vendors to ensure UK BT Tax controls are appropriate, consistently followed and are current in a changing environment

· 
Provide payroll tax support and expertise to internal stakeholders including drafting of tax-related communications to employees, handle service center case escalations etc.

· 
Assist with resolution of incoming tax correspondence from HMRC & Local in-country tax agencies along with any internal inquiries as it applies to Audit Requests.

· 
Performing in-depth analysis and reconciliation of all tax data and documentation (Tax year-end local and UK statements, and ad hoc tax statements for leavers, tax returns, P60’s) in relation to global business travel

· 
Ensure ongoing that all areas of risk are identified and mitigated with strong controls.

· 
Ensure detailed and robust SOP’s are documented for all work streams and comply with ongoing maintenance to ensure current

· 
Ongoing participation in the broader project work related to the continued expansion of the EMEA BT Tax operations rollout, as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

 

· 
Previous extensive general accounting related experience preferred

· 
Demonstrated Microsoft Suite experience including Visio and Powerpoint. Very strong Excel skills essential

· 
Degree level education preferred in related field (Finance, Accounting, Tax etc.)

· 
Understanding of UK payroll taxation and Tax Filings/Amendments, in both purpose and application

· 
Superior attention to detail and tenacity to follow through and resolve outstanding issues

· 
Strong technical, analytical mindset that detects and prevents errors with ability to solve complex scenarios

· 
Strong organizational skills and able to multitask, meeting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with changing and competing priorities

·  Challenging of mind with a track record of managing change, and delivering process improvements in a dynamic and evolving environment
·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
·  Ability to Lead Meetings and develop presentations on an Ad Hoc basis
