Business Overview: Global Tax Operations
The Global Tax Operations Utility provides centralized Tax operational solutions for multiple products, businesses and client segments across the wholesale bank. Key services include the proactive management of Global Taxation Market Changes, Relief at Source and Reclamation management.
Working with hubs in Asia Pacific and the Americas, the Global Tax Operations group in Bournemouth is a dynamic environment, providing a bench mark product to all CIB clients.
Team Description: Income and Taxation Team
The Global Tax Operations Utility provides centralised operational solutions for multiple products within the Treasury & Securities Services business.
The department is responsible for the Tax market change analysis and appropriate implementation, tax relief at source, collection and validation of relevant tax documentation for all applicable markets and securities types held by the firm's clients, together with any subsequent tax reclaim management. The Group currently employs over 100 people, split between its operations hubs in Bournemouth, Dallas and Mumbai. The variety of teams and roles within the group offer staff the opportunity to become specialist within a specific area, or alternatively the chance to move around and build up comprehensive product knowledge. We liaise closely with other groups across the firm, this interaction enables employees to gain an insight into other operations and obtain a high level knowledge of the diverse range of the J.P. Morgan products.
Key Responsibilities:
· The position is within the Tax Operations Group, whose primary responsibility is to maximise client's investments by either facilitating effective tax relief at source on our client investment income or retrospectively reclaiming taxes from global tax authorities. This is a high-risk product with diverse market procedures, complex documentary requirements and client specific nuances.
· Responsible for collection and validation of all applicable client documentation within strict SLA guidelines.
· Implement any determined impact to the CIB Custody business of all tax related newsflashes.
· Regular review of Documentation reclaim items to resolve all 'non-document' related items.
· Manage the implementation of new tax procedures..
· Act as a contact point for Relationship Managers / Client Service staff for complex tax documentation issues.
· Attend / deliver internal and external presentations (e.g. Sub-custodian visits / Client presentations).
· Support Tax Training initiatives / undertake cross training with other members of the team.
· Maintain tax document templates for internal use.
· Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures as per departmental guidelines.
· Identify and manage risk situations, escalating where appropriate.
· Resolve tax documentation / associated tax rate discrepancies on in conjunction with the appointed JPMorgan Sub Custodian Network.
· The incumbent will sit on a global change management committee and will be responsible for ownership of all aspects of the project management process cycle from a tax perspective.
