Department Description
The Global Fixed Income Cash Middle Office provides support to the Rates and Securitized Products lines of business, via trader assistants and also a broader trade support group. Although closely aligned to the Front Office, the Middle Office provide oversight and control to the daily trading activity of the desk, ensuring trade management and end to end process flow of transactions are carried out in an efficient and controlled manner, ensuring the highest level of quality is achieved at all times.
Role Summary
An opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical and communication skills to join this team of trader assistants on the trading floor. The candidate will be operating in a high pressure environment, and will have constant interaction with traders and other TA's, in addition to working closely with partners in Finance, Technology, Audit, Business Management, and Middle Office. The role will be covering a number of business lines, including Euro Govies, Frequent Borrowers, Sovereigns, UST, and Securitized Products.
Main Responsibilities
Acting as a bridging point between FO and other downstream partners, core functions and processes include:
· Trade capture & validation into front office systems, and liaising with trading desks to resolve any daily issues.
· Investigate and resolve trade queries, and make necessary amendments in front end risk management system
· Close liason with partners in back office to clear outstanding nostros, confirmations, internal breaks and other ad hoc items.
· Prepare daily Flash P&L and explain to the desk and business management and Investigate P&L breaks between estimates and actuals
· Ensures compliance with all reg reporting requirements across CFTC, ESMA, FCA, MIFID etc
· Involvement with market initiatives and implementing into existing processes where possible/beneficial
· Processing of credit events and other event management items
· Responsibility for the control environment surrounding the business' trading activity (ie Timely and accurate trade capture/reconciliation of downstream feeds, monitoring of control metrics.)
· Verifying that end of day prices/spreads/rates are properly uploaded on a daily basis and applied to trading books for end of day run.
· Reviews, collaborate and prepare potentially new operational procedures in line with changes and developments in the business
· Produces adhoc scenario based reporting, as requested by FO/MO Management
· Drives middle office change Management and Technology to increase automation and controls
· Monitor daily and weekly MIS and ensure negative trends are being investigated and any exceptions are cleared accordingly
Desired profile
Technical Competence
· PC literate and preferably proficient in Excel, and MS Access
Qualifications
· Extensive investment banking experience, preferably in a similar Trader Assistant role
· Strong Operations and/or Finance experience
· Able to identify and resolve issues with minimum supervision
· Self motivated with good interpersonal skills
· Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
· Self starting team player who is creative and reliable
· Extremely detail oriented and Controls focused
· Analytical and quantitative aptitude
· Adaptability to learn new tasks & demonstrate willingness to understand the detail of a process.
· Understanding of the transaction flow: Ability to look at the overall process and explain it to others.
· Strong time management: organization skills and prioritization of tasks, setting own deadlines and working to defined targets.
