The Equity Derivatives Group (EDG) provides marketing, structuring and trading services on equity-based and fund-based derivatives products. These products are marketed to a broad range of clients, including distributors, institutional investors and corporates. J.P. Morgan is recognized as a market leader in Equity Derivatives.
EDG Middle Office, as part of IB Operations, provides support to a wide range of external and internal businesses. It also provides the best-in-class operational processing capabilities across all asset classes.
The team has responsibilities for supporting the sales and trading activities across the globe from a Reconciliation and Control perspective. The team's main goal is to maintain daily controls and proactively improve processes' controls. The new Mumbai EDG MO team will specifically focus on Trade Management function and Control MIS reporting covering global EDG businesses.
We are specifically seeking people who have knowledge in trade support and control with at least 3-5 years experience.
Product Coverage:
Securities, Bonds, Convertible bonds, stock borrow and loan, equity swaps, interest rate swap, OTC options, FX, Listed Options, Futures, Forwards, Variance Swaps, CDS, Structured derivatives, etc.
Daily BAU Tasks:
• Reconcile and Resolve Fails & Exceptions (Trade & Settlement Breaks)
• Monitor Fails / Exception Reports
• Provide Business Control Reporting – MIS
• Perform reconciliation between Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office systems to ensure data capture accuracy and completeness
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Perform daily controls and reconciliation functions for EDG trades
• Overseeing the data gathering process, analyze the data and report MIS utilizing the various data source
• Produce time sensitive daily reports with actionable data to Front Office, Middle Office or Back Office for break resolutions
• Provide detailed business control metrics to management on a daily basis
• Action business as usual (BAU) tasks and execute root cause analyses on new issues or control gaps
• Take ownership of work, problems, clarify issues / objections, and ensure data integrity, accuracy and completeness
• Escalate issues for any urgent matters or assistance
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with all EDG teams and be an expert on Equity Derivative Reconciliations and Controls
• Handle adhoc projects for the team
• Ensure all controls and checks are completed on End of Day
Desired profile
V. Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge:
• 3-5 years of experience in an investment banking environment, preferably in Middle Office / Trade Support
• Attentive to details and strong interpersonal skills
• Solid business judgments and positive attitude
• Sound knowledge in EDG products
• Basic project management skills
• Ability to prioritize
• Degree holder in Finance / Economics or other related disciplines
• Fluent English language skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong proficiency with PC software. Knowledge of MS VBA and SQL would be an asset
VI. Other Requirements:
• Since this team will have extensive contact with Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office around the globe, they will need to be able to work under strong pressure and meet deadlines on time.
• The ability to multi-task is essential – ensuring the trades are booked correctly, breaks are resolved and MIS being sent to managers on deadlines.
• The candidate needs flexibility to adapt a continually changing environment and prepare to take on more responsibility whilst being willing to absorb and share their knowledge continuously.
