Job description

The Strategic Investors Group (SIG) at J.P. Morgan is split into 5 distinct client coverage groups: Financial Sponsors (i.e. Private Equity Firms), Family Offices, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Infrastructure Funds and Private Client Advisory.

The SIG team is responsible for the effective client relationship management and origination of the firm’s investment banking and markets services and products (M&A, Leveraged Finance, ECM, Credit and Markets) amongst this client base.

Internal organization:
·  The Financial Sponsor Group is responsible for the relationship management of private equity firms. The primary client executives sit in London with additional local coverage in some of our continental European offices
·  The Family Office coverage is a global effort for the firm seeking to develop relationship with Family Investment Firms. The team is based in London 
·  The Sovereign Wealth Funds coverage is responsible for the relationship management of SWFs. The primary client executive sits in London with additional local coverage in some of our MENA offices. The Equity Private Placements team, who also sits in London, also reports to the SWF Group given the synergies between the client base and the fund raising effort done by the EPP team
·  The Infrastructure Funds coverage is responsible for the relationship management of infrastructure funds and the primary client executive sits in London
·  The Private Client Advisory coverage is responsible for the relationship management of existing or prospective clients of the Private Bank from an Investment Banking point of view. The primary client executive sits in London with additional local coverage in some of our continental European offices
We provide financing (debt, equity) and M&A advisory services to our clients as part of their routine activities of businesses acquisitions (majority and minority stakes) and monetisation of existing investments (either via sale or IPO)

Sponsors, family offices SWFs and Infra Funds are highly sophisticated investors and the breadth of products and services provided is extensive – across industries and geographies and including corporate finance, structured products and derivatives

The SIG coverage presents a fluid and fast-paced environment, requiring to be on top of the market and an effective coordination across industry coverage and product partners to identify the situations of relevance to our clients.

Responsibilities:
·  Preparation and ownership of pitch materials
·  Research client’s investment criteria, portfolio companies and identify pitch opportunities
·  Coordinate with industry coverage and product partners to source business opportunities
·  Significant client interaction, including in-person meetings and conference calls
Assistance in execution of transactions with SIG clients, including M&A, equity and debt transactions, alongside JPM industry and product group partners
Qualifications
·  Excel, PowerPoint, Word
·  Strong communication, analytical, research, and organizational skills
·  Comfortable in a client-facing role, including presenting ideas and pitch materials in meetings
·  Comfortable collaborating with several colleagues across different groups at all levels of the firm
