Opportunity

An opening has arisen for an Analyst to work within the Global Research Metals and Mining team in London. We are seeking an experienced Banking or finance professional with suitable sector-related experience (finance, industry or banking).

Key responsibilities

• Support team head on strategy and thematic or pan-European research reports
• Coordinate team projects, client requests and involvement in regular team publications
• Preparation of marketing materials
• Communicate with Buy-side and Industry participants supporting the lead analysts
• Develop skills to gain coverage over time of stocks and regions
·  Update company numbers in financial models post earnings release
·  Build new Company models as and when required
·  Communicate and engage with corporates when required
Requirements

Prior sell-side Equities experience or banking corporate finance is preferred, but is not a pre-requisite. The candidate needs to be able to be proficient in their understanding of the Metals and Mining industries. In addition there will be writing involved, therefore written communication must be very strong.

Essential skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking or Finance minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent
• Master’s degree in Economics with a Financial focus advantageous though not essential
• Preferably a corporate finance or accounting background
• Prior experience of Equity Research within Investment Banking with a focus on the Metals and Mining and exposure to CEE Steel
• Very strong quantitative and analytical skills (including Excel modelling and valuation work)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong intellectual curiosity and judgment
• Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Excellent technology skills with superior Excel skills
• Good understanding on Bloomberg, SAP, DataStream and Thomson Reuters
