Business Overview
J.P. Morgan is a top-tier bank in providing financing needs to Public Sector clients as well as in supporting investor clients via our syndicate and trading desks. The JPM Public Finance business is structured as a full service investment bank within the CIB, comprised of the following teams:
· Investment Banking Coverage
· Syndicate
· Long & Short Term Trading
· Credit Origination
Public Finance banking provides sector and regional banking coverage in New York and 13 regional offices. The Syndicate desk partners with banking and trading to bring new issues to market. The trading desks work closely with sales to support customer activity, covering over 500 major institutional accounts. Credit Origination manages an $18+bn diversified credit portfolio for our public sector clients.
The Product Control function within CIB Finance and Business Management is responsible for:
· Production and consolidation of actual and estimate P&L
· Analysis of estimate to actual breaks
· Produce and review daily P&L commentary
· Control oversight and integrity of the financial statements and transaction end-to-end control
· Ensuring accuracy in reporting of risk positions
Position Description
The Analyst role will be primarily supporting various originations and trading desks within Public Finance. Responsibilities include:
· Daily preparation, analysis, and verification of the daily trading estimate and reported P&L for Front Office sign-off. Requires daily interaction with Front Office traders, trading assistants and Middle Office trade support.
· Provide financial oversight over month-end close working closely with the Financial Control hub in Delaware.
· Conduct investigations of breaks between P&L reporting system and the general ledger, cash wash breaks, and nostros.
· Understand accounting treatment and ensure compliance with appropriate corporate and regulatory requirements.
· Understand balance sheet usage and reporting.
· Consolidation accounting.
· Ensure appropriate legal entity reporting of products.
· Ensure a sound control environment.
Desired profile
· Strong accounting background highly preferred
· Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related area preferred
· Solid understanding of financial products such as loans and derivatives would be advantageous
· Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities and detail oriented
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Team player
· Strong Excel skills
· Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
