EMEA CEM Product Control – Associate
Department Description
EMEA Currencies & Emerging Markets (EMEA CEM) Controller group sits within the Investment Bank Finance & Business Management group. The function supports the EMEA trading team who are market makers in developed and emerging markets across a broad range of fixed income products. The business also provides structured exotic products.

Role Description
Product Control is an independent control function responsible for the accuracy and integrity of Line of Business (LOB) books and records.
The key control functions and responsibilities include daily T+1 Trader P&L and Risk reporting, production, analysis, substantiation and sign off at a trader/desk level, month-end close process, working with Financial Control, Valuation Control Group and Legal Entity Controllers, US GAAP General Ledger accuracy, LOB submission and representation in external Regulatory filings, Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) policy application and calculation.

The candidate will be a Controller within the Currencies & Emerging Markets business. You will partner with the Trading Desk, Sales, Business Management, Operations, Market Risk and Financial Control among others to contribute to various high profile business initiatives and to ensure that the end-to-end control environment is sound. The role will have a managerial responsibility.

Key responsibilities will involve:
·  Daily T+1 Trader P&L and Risk reporting, production, analysis, substantiation and sign off at a trader/desk level. This involves applying the risk based explain methodology for P&L analysis (‘Greeks’) and understanding market drivers.
·  Dealing with ad-hoc queries from the broad range of internal stakeholders.
·  Month-end close process, working with Financial Control, Valuation Control Group and Legal Entity Controllers. Product Controllers work in partnership with Financial Control to reconcile P&L and BS to the books and records.
·  Producing various MIS reports for the Business, which are used to monitor and enhance business performance.
·  Contribution towards new business initiatives, and projects aimed at strengthening the control environment.
·  Participation in large scale infrastructure change projects.
·  Liaison with Finance partners in other divisions, such as, Commercial Bank, Private Bank, Investor Services and others.

Requirements

Strong understanding of Fixed Income product suite and the ‘Greeks’ (risks) associated with these products.
·  Strong academic background with a minimum of 2:1.
·  Strong interpersonal skills as the role requires frequent interaction with Front Office and other groups
·  The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure commensurate with the trading environment
·  Good communication skills – ability to relay information in a concise and articulate manner
·  Professional attitude
·  Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
·  Good MS Office skills (Excel Advanced, Access an advantage). Ability to code in VBA would be beneficial.
·  Analytical and logical thinking; good at problem solving and devising solutions
·  Pro-active and willing to accept responsibility.
All internal moves will normally take place on the same grade and same salary. Salaries are reviewed annually in February. Exceptions to the rule regarding transfer on current salary may include a move between geographic locations.
