The main purpose of Equity Research is to provide advice to institutional investors about the shares they should buy or sell to make profits for their clients, and we work closely with colleagues in Equity cash sales, cash sales trading and trading to do this. Our strong research franchise with institutional investors, the market insights we develop, and the close relationships we establish with the companies we cover are also very valuable to internal clients such as IB, Derivatives, Credit & Rates, and Private Equity.
Opportunity
An opening has arisen for an Analyst to work within the Product Management team in London. The overall objective is to help deliver J.P. Morgan research to the relevant internal and external stakeholders in the most efficient and commercial manner while ensuring we are always compliant with all risk and control criteria.
Key responsibilities/objectives will look to address, but not be limited to, the following:
· Plan, co-ordinate and actively monitor the research pipelines across our sector teams
· Prepare relevant information for the daily morning meeting
· Work with individual analysts on specific products and pitches
· Liaise with sales and trading on analyst teach-ins
· Co-ordinate across department, asset class and function research related information
· Compile Sales weekly feedback for distribution to analysts
· Liaise with Corporate Broking in order to maximize impact
· Identify new and commercial opportunities to market research
· Assume a 5:45 start to the day
Qualifications
The candidate will need to hit the ground running. Previous experience with the product and personnel in research, sales, sales-trading and trading would be advantageous.
Essential skills
· Excellent academic results (Bachelors degree minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent)
· Strong analytical, numerical and quantitative skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ambitious, hard-working, with attention to detail and capacity to show initiative
· Reliable team player
· Excel and technical proficiency required
· Good Word and PowerPoint knowledge
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
· Interest in the stock market and asset management industry
· Fluency in English is essential; a second language is useful but not essential.
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
