Job description

The UK Market Intelligence Group (UKMIG) sits within the Corporate Finance area of J.P. Morgan Cazenove, the UK investment banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Working directly with clients, both broking and non-broking, and closely with bankers and the investor relations team, UKMIG forms an integral part of J.P. Morgan's corporate broking offering with a focus on shareholder analysis and market reporting alongside a growing number of other products.
UKMIG has provided market leading shareholder analysis services to UK clients for more 20 years and also has capabilities in South Africa, where it has operated for 14 years, and other markets. The team sits on 29th floor at Bank Street and is comprised of 17 individuals, the majority focussed on UK clients.

Position Summary
The initial focus of this analyst level role will be on UK shareholder analysis. This includes the accurate identification and reporting of shareholdings and trends, for which full training will be provided. The process is supplemented by institutional research and analysis of trading activity, and results in regular reporting in a variety of formats to a broad audience both internally and externally. Additional work is undertaken ahead of and during corporation action and M&A activity.
There is also significant scope for responsibilities beyond this core role, including J.P. Morgan Cazenove's market commentary product and involvement in the identification and implementation of new product offerings.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and delivery of accurate shareholder analysis reports within strict deadlines
- Key contact for client and internal sector teams, delivering clear and relevant messages
- Awareness and understanding of market developments and their impact on shareholdings
- Monitoring and researching changes in the institutional equity ownership market
- Maintaining contact with clients between reporting periods regarding changes or developments within institutional shareholder base and/ or market conditions
- In depth, ad-hoc analysis for clients, Corporate Finance and M&A during corporate actions
- Understanding of complete product offering and ancillary services in order to promote other business areas
- Eventual ability to identify new product areas and take a lead on their development

- Previous experience of shareholder analysis products or a market focussed role is essential
