Department Description:
The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent function whose responsibility is to ensure that the assets and liabilities that are held on the Balance Sheet of the Firm are fairly valued. The VCG Business Management Office is a new team that is responsible for driving xLOB activities and deliverables such as business management, internal projects, reporting, regulatory coordination/response and controls
Candidate Roles and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for interfacing with internal (front office, middle office, back office, technology) and external (regulators, auditors, vendors, rating agencies) partners to drive VCG's xLOB agenda. Key areas of focus will be -
Business Management
· Partner with Planning & Analysis team to prepare VCG 2015 Budget and provide monthly review of allocated expenses to VCG Management.
· Build out strong oversight of Market Data to ease monthly follow-up and review process.
· Manage globally headcount growth and real estate demand for the group.
Regulatory
· Provide ‘air-traffic-control' of all VCG regulatory demands and deliverables by partnering with VCG Reg Leads to understand requests, centrally tracking request and information sent to regulators and keeping VCG management updated on key deliverables and timelines
Projects
· Provide project management oversight/support for VCG internally led projects by liaising with project leads on project status, progress, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies.
Desired profile
Skills Required :
· Background in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
· Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to observe and interpret
· Strong control mindset (control, project, reg experience a plus)
· Keen eye for potential control deficiencies and desire/ability to drive resolution
· Attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong Excel, Access, Powerpoint skills
· Ability to work in pressure oriented environment with tight recurring deadlines (mid month, month end, quarter end, year end, regulatory, audit)
· Relationship Building & Management
· Ability to seek efficiencies in work leveraging VCG and firm
· Teamwork oriented, ability to work across management hierarchy
